H. L. Edlin
B. T. Batsford, 1st edition 1949
A detailed study and the standard work on the subject by Herbert Edlin.
Re-published by David & Charles in 1973 and subsequently issued by the Country Book Club; this copy the original 1949 Batsford publication with the attractive wrap-round dustwrapper art.
Hardback in dustwrapper. pp. x, 182, plus b/w plates. 8.75 x 5.75 inches approx. (220mm x 145mm).
Dustwrapper rubbed and worn especially to top edge, spine ends, corner tips and folds; small loss to head of spine; foxed, marked and grubbiness in places, spine darkened; very foxed/spotted to reverse side. Boards and spine generally clean, slightly pulled to head of spine. Endpapers showing offsetting and foxing; some foxing to preliminaries and final pages but generally clean throughout; spotting to edges of page-block, dusty to top edge.
Nonetheless, showing wear but remains a reasonably nice copy.
