The Bodley Head, reprint 1952
A reprint of Bodley Head’s “Unlimited Edition” of 1937, described on the dustwrapper as “Cheap Edition”.
Hardback – publisher’s cloth with gilt title to spine and blind decoration to front board, in price-clipped dustwrapper with bow design [by Eric Gill] to spine. pp. , 766. Size 8 x 6 inches approx. (206mm x 155mm).
Light wear and rubbing to dustwrapper; a little dusty. Gilt to spine a touch dulled, cloth clean; sharp corners to boards. Endpapers foxed and with offsetting, owner’s name in ink to front endpaper (and interestingly dated 1950); some waviness to fore-edges of first few pages; occasional foxing throughout, mainly confined to margins, but generally pages clean; edges of page-block very spotted/foxed with some encroachment onto page, a little knocked/dinged in places.
Overall, showing wear but remains a nice, attractive copy.
