by Lewis Carroll, illustrated by John Tenniel
Macmillan and Co. Limited, One Hundred and Twenty-First Thousand [reprint] 1925
The People’s Edition* of ‘Through the Looking-Glass’ (1872) was originally published in 1887 and with many printings since then, this copy being a 1925 printing.
Hardback. Publisher’s olive-green cloth with title to spine and front board; illustrated to front board in black and red, publisher’s emblem to rear board. pp [12], [1]-211, [1] colophon, including b/w illustrations. Size: 7.25 x 5 inches approx. (186mm x 128mm).
Cloth a little rubbed and worn, especially spine ends and corner tips; boards bumped to lower corner with wear to cloth; a little splash marked to front board. Foxing/offsetting to endpapers; a name in ink to half-title page; occasional foxing or grubby mark and some handling wear but pages generally clean throughout; page-block bumped to lower corner.
Overall, showing some wear but otherwise a reasonably nice, clean copy – quite lovely.
