The Readers Library published affordable editions of popular fiction in the period 1924-35, cheaply produced but very attractive with their wrap-round dustwrapper artwork.

A film tie-in of the First National Pictures 1927 silent film directed by Alfred Santell and starring Richaed Barthelmess and Moly O’Day. Based on the Rupert Hughes (1872-1956) short story about a boxer joining the army to fight in the Great War. The book also contains four other short stories by the author.

Lovely dustwrapper art by an uncredited artist.

Hardback in dustwrapper. 252pp. Size: 6.75 x 4.25 inches approx. (168mm x 105mm).

Light wear and rubbing to dustwrapper; spotted/foxed to verso; a touch dusty. Light shelf wear to spine and boards; a little spoted and marked; gilt dulled to spine. Offsetting to endpapers and pages age toned but generally clean throughout; page-block very tight.

Overall, a particularly well preserved copy – very attractive in its dustwrapper.

£45.00
