The Reprint Society, 1st illustrated edition 1953
First published in the US by Scribners in 1952, the UK edition being published the same year by Jonathan Cape. This illustrated edition from The Reprint Society in 1953 unusually pre-dated Cape’s illustrated version of the same by two years (1955).
Hardback – publisher’s cloth with decoration to front board, in dustwrapper. 117pp including b/w illustrations. 8.75 x 6.25 inches approx. (222mm x 158mm).
Dustwrapper rubbed and worn to extremities; a few edge tears to top and bottom with resultant creasing; a 40mm tear to upper corner of front panel with some signs of tape residue to verso; head of spine very worn and creased; dusty. Boards nice and clean; lightly knocked to spine ends. Pages a touch dusty in places but generally very clean throughout; page-block lightly knocked to tail of spine.
Nonetheless, remaining a particularly nice, clean copy.
