The Motor Manual
compiled and illustrated by the Staff of “The Motor”
Temple Press Limited, 28th edition (revised and re-illustrated) (1931)
A popular publication for the motorist ‘…[a] Practical Handbook…comprehensive and up-to-date…’, originally published around 1900 and running to many editions and copies sold by the 1940s. This copy being the 28th edition from 1931 (dated from BSM advert) with nicely decorated boards and complete with dustwrapper (artist unknown) and original bookmark.
Hardback in dustwrapper. pp A1-A4, [1] preface, [1] advert, i, [1] advert, ii, [1] advert, i-v, [1] advert, 235, [5] adverts, including b/w illustrations plus fold-out colour plate. 8.25 x 5.5 inches approx. (206mm x 140mm).
Dustwrapper rubbed and worn, occasional tear, and with small loss; a little marked and dusty. Boards clean and bright; endpapers spotted and foxed; pages very age tanned but generally appear clean; short tear to preface page to lower margin and near gutter.
Nonetheless, a particularly well preserved copy and uncommon to find in the attractive dustwrapper – quite lovely.
