The Long Walk
Slavomir Rawicz
The Book Society in association with Constable and Company Ltd, 1st editon 1956
The classic and best-selling tale of escape and survival – signed to the title page by Slavomir Rawicz.
Doubts to the truthfulness of the trek were raised by contemporary reviews – “One thing is puzzling: whether the story is a muddled and hazy reconstruction of an actual occurrence, or mere fiction” (H. Richardson, The Himalayan Journal Vol. 20, 1957) – doubts that haven’t lessened in the subsequent years.
Published by The Book Society concurrently with Constable’s own edition bearing their imprint, both editions being first publication.
Hardback in dustwrapper. pp [4], 240, [1] including two map illustrations. Size: 8.5 x 5.75 inches approx. (220mm x 143mm).
