The Dawn Patrol
novelized by Guy Fowler, original story by John Monk Saunders
London: The Readers Library Publishing Company Ltd, [1930]*
The Readers Library published affordable editions of popular fiction in the period 1924-35, cheaply produced but very attractive with their wrap-round dustwrapper artwork.
A film tie-in of the Howard Hawks directed 1930 First National Pictures production starring Richard Barthelmess and Douglas Fairbanks Jr.
Hardback in dustwrapper. pp 188, [2] adverts. Size: 6.75 x 4.25 inches approx. (169mm x 107mm).
Dustwrapper somewhat worn with tears and creasing to top and bottom edges; flap folds stretched and loose fitting to boards; stain to bottom edge of rear panel verso; a little dusty/grubby in places. Shelf wear and dustiness to boards and spine; gilt dulled to spine; stain to lower edge of rear board. Pages very tanned throughout but generally clean.
Overall, showing wear but otherwise remaining a reasonably nice copy – presents well with its striking dustwrapper.
