by William Aspden, M. Wilson Brown, Winifred Flower, T. J. S. Rowland and L. J. Wolff
London: Odhams Press Ltd, 1st edition 1958
Well illustrated throughout with b/w line drawings by Stanley Herbert, Brian Hope-Taylor, Roy Grubb, William Wood, L. S. Haywood, and J. Lucas.
The attractive colour plates are by C. S. Gould, M. de Sausmarez, S. R. Badmin, R. B. Talbot Kelly, J. Lucas, Raymond Sheppard, Richard Chopping, L. Houghton, and Noel Rooke. The delightful endpapers illustration isn’t credited, however the dustwrapper illustration is by C. F. Tunnicliffe.
Hardback. Publisher’s green cloth with title and decoration in dark green to spine. In a dustwrapper. pp 254, index, including b/w line drawings, plus b/w photographic illustrations and colour plates. Size: 10 x 7.25 inches approx. (253mm x 184mm).
Dustwrapper rubbed and worn with some short tears and creasing, especially to top edge and head of spine. Cloth clean and bright although somewhat mottled and faded to boards. Pages age-toned and some occasional foxing/spotting but generally clean throughout.
Overall, showing some light wear but otherwise a nice, clean copy – and uncommon to find with its Charles Tunnicliffe illustrated dustwrapper.
