The Book of the Sea by T. C. Bridges (Harrap, 1927) Romance of Knowledge Series
The Book of the Sea
T. C. Bridges
George C. Harrap & Company Ltd, 1st edition 1927
A juvenile or ‘popular’ study of the sea, ships & shipping, pirates, sealife, lighthouses, &c. A volume in the ‘Romance of Knowledge’ series.
Lovely publisher’s cloth binding with pictorial inlay to front board and gilt decoration to front and spine.
Hardback in dustwrapper. 286pp plus b/w and colour plates. 8.5 x 6 inches approx. (218mm x 153mm).
Some wear and rubbing to dustwrapper with small loss to corner tips and spine ends; a little dusty. Cloth very clean and bright; spine ends a touch turned-in; boards lightly knocked to lower corner; foxing throughout, heavy in places but generally clean; spotted to edges of page-block, dusty to top edge; one page gathering slightly sprung with open gutter.
Overall, showing wear internally commensurate with age and storage but otherwise a super copy – quite lovely – and uncommon to find with dustwrapper.
