rendered into English Verse by Edward Fitzgerald
with illustrations by Edmund Dulac
Hodder and Stoughton, [1909]
The first Dulac illustrated edition, published as a vellum bound signed limited edition and as a trade edition in gilt decorated white buckram with decorated endpapers. A later printing appears in a red cloth with identical gilt decoration but with plain endpapers and text borders in a pale green.
Twenty tipped-in colour plates.
Hardback – publisher’s white buckram with titles and decoration in gilt to spine and front board, decorated endpapers. [162]pp including colour plates. 11.25 x 9 inches approx. (285mm x 228mm).
Covers a touch dusty and marked, spine a little darkened; slight bowing to boards. Internally, scattered foxing throughout and edges spotted, some offsetting to blank pages from borders opposite but generally pages are clean and fresh looking; page-block bumped to lower corner.
Overall, remaining a particularly nice, clean copy – quite lovely.
