The Dulac illustrated edition of the Rubaiyat was first published 1909 with twenty colour plates. A smaller format ‘popular’ edition in red cloth with twelve plates appeared in 1914, being reprinted several times over the next decade or so. This copy, also with twelve plates, is a larger format than the ‘popular’ edition and was published around 1927.

Hardback – publisher’s blue cloth with title and decoration in gilt to spine and front board, in a dustwrapper with onlay plate to front with decoration; endpapers with decorated paste-down. pp [2] blank, [124], [2] blank, plus 12 tipped-in colour plates each mounted on grey card with titled tissue page-guard. 10 x 8 inches approx. (252mm x 200mm).
Dustwrapper showing some wear and tear, rubbed and worn with small loss to extremities; faded and discoloured, especially to spine; old tape staining visible to reverse side (tape now removed), with a piece of archival tape placed across horizontal tear to upper spine; dampstain to upper corner of front panel. Cloth a little dusty and discoloured, gilt bright; boards a little knocked to corners; foxed and spotted throughout, heavy in places; occasional ‘nick’ to page edges from handling otherwise in good order.
Nonetheless, remains an attractive copy in dustwrapper of an uncommon edition.
