Originally published in 1911 by Hodder and Stoughton. This edition being published by The Folio Society in 2006 and beautifully illustrated by Debra McFarlane, including twelve tipped-in colour plates.
This edition had a further printing in 2007, identical to the 2006 printing. A new edition was published in 2013 in a slightly smaller format and with the colour plates being printed on the page (instead of being tipped-in).
Hardback – publisher’s decorative cloth, in a custom-made slipcase with blue buckram ends and marbled blue Clairefontaine Ingres papered sides. pp vii, [viii-xii], 179, including b/w line drawings plus colour plates. 13 x 9.75 inches approx. (331mm x 252mm).
Some lettering to spine a touch rubbed or poorly applied (see R in ‘PETER’ and M in ‘J. M.’). Light spotting to fore-edge of page-block.
Overall, light handling wear but otherwise a lovely, clean copy – presenting well in its custom slipcase.
