Mist Over Pendle by Robert Neill (Hutchinson, 1956) with dustwrapper
Mist Over Pendle
Robert Neill
Hutchinson & Co. Ltd, [new] edition 1956
Originally published in 1951 and the author’s first and probably most known and read novel, a tale of witches and romance in seventeenth century Lancashire.
Dustwrapper art by Sax.
Hardback in dustwrapper. 328pp. Size: 7.5 x 5.25 inches approx. (189mm x 135mm).
Light wear and rubbing to dustwrapper, mainly to spine ends and corner tips with small loss; a few short edge tears; spine a little darkened; dusty and lightly stained to rear panel. Boards lightly knocked to corners and bumped to head of spine, but covers generally clean. Endpapers foxed and with offsetting, stained to rear (some foreign matter underneath the paste-down); pages very age tanned but otherwise generally clean; one page gathering slightly proud of the block.
Nonetheless, remains a reasonably nice copy – especially attractive in its dustwrapper.
