Mary Plain in Town
by Gwynedd Rae, with illustrations by Irene Williamson
Cobden-Sanderson, 2nd impression May 1936
The third book in the series after ‘Mostly Mary’ (1930) and ‘All Mary’ (1931), recounting the adventures of a bear named Mary Plain. Originally published in October 1935, this copy being the first reprint.
Hardback in dustwrapper. 118pp including b/w illustrations. 7.5 x 5.5 inches approx. (190mm x 142mm).
Dustwrapper worn and torn with some loss; foxed, grubby and marked. Boards dusty with some fading; spine faded. Endpapers dusty and foxed, some offsetting, signs of a name in pencil erased, inkspot to fore-edge of front free endpaper; occasional foxing and dustiness to pages but generally clean throughout; edges page-block dusty and spotted with some encroachment into page margins.
Nonetheless, remaining a reasonably nice copy in a worn but mostly complete dustwrapper – uncommon.
