Life in Ponds and Streams by W. Furneaux (Longmans, Green and Co., 1911) decorative cloth binding with dustwrapper
Life in Ponds and Streams
Longmans, Green and Co., new impression 1911
A good standard work originally published 1896 with several later printings, this copy from 1911. Well illustrated with b/w line drawings plus eight colour plates.
Hardback – publisher’s cloth with gilt title to spine and frog decoration to front, page-block with top edge gilt, in dustwrapper. xix, 406pp including b/w illustrations plus colour plates. 8 x 5.5 inches approx. (202mm x 141mm).
Cloth lovely and clean, a touch pushed-in to spine ends. Dustwrapper worn to top edge with small loss and with sellotape staining to reverse side; age tanning to spine and rear panel, tanned to reverse side; wear to corner tips. Offsetting to endpapers; occasional foxing, dustiness or grubby mark but generally pages clean throughout; tissue guards very tanned.
Overall, light wear but unusual to find in such nice, clean condition and with original dustwrapper – quite lovely.
