King Solomon’s Mines by H. Rider Haggard (Cassell, 1930) with dustwrapper
King Solomon’s Mines
H. Rider Haggard
Cassell and Company Ltd, reprint May 1930
Attractive dustwrapper design. Although uncredited, the artwork is taken from Cassell’s 1912 newly illustrated edition with eight colour plates by A. C. Michael.
Hardback – publisher’s blue cloth with title in blue to spine and blue border to front board, in a dustwrapper priced 2/6 net (two shillings and sixpence) to spine. pp xv, [3], 298. Size: 7.5 x 5 inches approx. (192mm x 129mm).
Light wear and rubbing to dustwrapper, a few short edge tears with resultant creasing and wear; light sunning/fading to spine; a little dusty and marked in places. Cloth clean and bright, a touch sunned to spine; light shelf wear to spine ends and board corner tips. Some foxing/spotting to edges of page-block with some encroachment onto margins but generally pages clean throughout.
Overall, light wear but otherwise a nicely preserved copy – quite lovely with its dustwrapper.
