Colonel Sun by Robert Markham (Jonathan Cape, 1968) A James Bond Adventure
Colonel Sun A James Bond Adventure
by Robert Markham [pseudonym of Kingsley Amis]
jacket painting by Tom Adams
Jonathan Cape Ltd, 1st edition 1968
This copy having the quad mark printing error on the copyright page, and vertical ‘north pointer’ on endpapers. Dustwrapper price-clipped and re-priced at £5.95 with publisher’s label.
Interestingly, it would appear to have taken some years for this title to sell out. Originally priced at 21s [shillings] on the dustwrapper flap, I have seen re-priced copies with £1.25 and £7.95 publisher’s labels.
Hardback in price-clipped dustwrapper. 255pp. 7.5 x 5.25 inches approx. (194mm x 134mm).
Dustwrapper lightly rubbed to corner tips and spine ends; some creasing and wear from handling; a touch of sunning or toning to spine; small abrasion to surface at lower corner of front panel; lightly stained to tail of spine visible to reverse side. Boards clean, spine gilt bright; a touch bruised to upper corner of boards; tail of spine slightly pushed in; endpapers foxed/spotted; occasional foxing or stain but generally pages clean; spotting and toning to page edges, especially top edge of page-block.
Nonetheless, a reasonably nice, clean copy which presents very well.
