HARROGATE BOOK FAIR

On Friday, 15th and Saturday, 16th March 2024 we’ll be at the HARROGATE BOOK FAIR being held at the Pavilions of Harrogate HG2 8QZ.

Around thirty-five booksellers will be exhibiting for sale antiquarian, collectable and secondhand books, maps and ephemera.

Light refreshments available at the café and there’s a large free car park on-site. For those travelling on public transport there are regular bus services between the venue and Harrogate Bus Station.

GARGRAVE BOOK FAIR

On Saturday, 2nd March 2024 we’ll be at the Gargrave Book Fair being held at the Village Hall, West Street BD23 3RD.

Open from 10am till 4pm there will be around seventeen exhibitors with secondhand, antiquarian, out-of-print and collectable books and ephemera.

The pretty village of Gargrave is situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, accessed by the A65 Kendal/Ilkley road and within easy reach of Skipton and Settle.

HORNBY BOOK FAIR

On Saturday, 17th February 2024 is the HORNBY BOOK FAIR open 10am – 4pm at The Institute, Main Street, Hornby LA2 8JR.

Around thirteen dealers selling second-hand, antiquarian and collectable books and ephemera. There is a café serving excellent home-made food and nearby car parking.

The village of Hornby, with the River Wenning running through and overlooked by the picturesque Hornby Castle, is situated on the A683 road and within easy distance of Lancaster, Kirkby Lonsdale and Ingleton.

Also happening in the village is the annual Snowdrop Weekend at Hornby Castle when the gardens will be open to the public. The attractive village of Hornby is within easy distance of Lancaster on the A683 towards Kirkby Lonsdale and Ingleton.

BARTON BOOK FAIR

On Saturday, 20th January 2024 is the BARTON BOOK FAIR open 10-4 at Barton Village Hall, Garstang Road PR3 5AA.

Around eighteen dealers with a good range of secondhand, antiquarian and collectable books and ephemera. Café and a large free car park.

Barton is situated on the A6 just a short distance from Preston and Junction 32 of the M6 motorway, providing easy access to Garstang, Lancaster and the Fylde coast towns of Lytham, St. Annes and Blackpool. Local attractions include the popular Barton Grange Garden Centre at Brock and the Beacon Fell Country Park near Goosnargh.

Young adult science-fiction about an alien race enslaving humans.

Originally published in the 1960s – The White Mountains (1967), The City of Gold and Lead (1967), and The Pool of Fire (1968) – these copies being published in 1984 which coincided neatly with the BBC-TV adaptation broadcast 1984-5.

Hardback – glazed pictorial boards. pp 156, 159, 155. Size: 8.75 x 5.5 inches approx. (223mm x 140mm).

Lightly knocked to spine ends and the corner tips of boards; spines slightly cocked. A little spotted to edges of page-blocks and occasional corner creases to pages but generally clean throughout.

Overall, showing signs of being handled and read but otherwise nice, clean copies – uncommon in this edition.
