by Lewis Carroll, illustrations by John Tenniel
London: Macmillan and Co., Limited, [reprint] 1952
The People’s Edition* of ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’ (1865) was originally published in 1887 and with many subsequent printings since then, this copy being a 1952 printing.
Hardback in a prce-clipped dustwrapper. Publisher’s green cloth with title to spine and front board; illustrated to front board in black and red, publisher’s emblem to rear board. pp [12], [1]-177-[179], [1] colophon, including b/w illustrations. Size: 7.5 x 5 inches approx. (188mm x 128mm).
Dustwrapper rubbed and worn, a few short edge tears and creasing; small loss to spine ends and corner tips; dusty, marked and discoloured; sunned and tanned to spine; foxed and offsetting to verso. Cloth a little dusty but generally very clean and bright. Offsetting to endpapers; dusty and spotted to edges of page-block; some creasing to pages but generally clean and in good order throughout.
Nonetheless, a particularly nice, clean copy in a slightly worn dustwrapper – lovely indeed.
