Originally published in 1870 with numerous subsequent revisions and printings. These particular copies date from the 1920s and although relatively common are not so when found complete with dustwrappers and original box.

Hardbacks – cloth with gilt title and decoration to spine in dustwrappers, in a box. 577pp + 576pp + 573pp plus b/w plates. 7 x 4.75 inches approx. (178mm x 123mm).

Box showing some wear and rubbing otherwise very sound. Dustwrappers dusty and age tanned, light wear and rubbing to extremities. Cloth very clean; an attractive prize label to front paste-down in each volume; offsetting to endpapers; occasional foxing/spotting and dustiness but generally pages very clean.

Overall, a lovely set indeed and presented in its original box, all in collectable condition.
